Brown trout fishing continues to be fantastic.  what's great is that they can be found at several locations--Bull Rock's Point, Stony Point, Clark's Point, Stony Creek mouth, Black Pond, Drowned Island and Southwick Beach from 15-60 feet.  Best lures have been Michigan Stingers (Natural Born Killer, Sunkist, Gator, Emerald Shiner and Lemon Ice). 

Walleye fishing has been slow but the ones brought in have been trophy-sized. Best places to fish for walleye are in 50-65 feet of water off Black River Bay and Bull Rock, around Point Peninsula and Middle Shoal, Grenadier Island and 60 feet of water off the cut.  Deep divers in Thundersticks have worked in blue-silver, black silver and Fire Tiger.

Bass season opened last weekend with uneven results.  Still, some nice ones were brought in for the derby.

Salmon fishing has not yet started with any consistency.  Perch fishing has still been consistently good.

Brown trout fishing has continued to be outstanding in recent weeks.  You'll find them in all the typical areas--Montario Point, north and south of Sandy Creek, Southwick Beach, Stony Point, Sawyer's Bay and Ray's Bay are among the best locations (in other words, if you're fishing for browns, you can't really go wrong.) Best lures have been Michigan Stingers, Smithwicks and Jr. ThunderSticks.

Northern pike anglers will also be delighted with the fishing in around here this year.  Henderson Bay, Black River Bay, Chaumont Bay, Guffin Bay and Three Mile bay have all produced a plentiful amount of 8-14 pounders.  Magnum Smithwicks, Thundersticks, and spoons in black-silver, blue-silver and Fire Tiger performed best.

Walleye fishing has been up and don, but again the walleye being brought in have been primarily trophy size.  Best baits have been Thundersticks, Smithwicks, Bombers, Stinger spoons, Joe Pirate and #18 Rapalas in normal blues, black-silver, gold and Fire Tiger.  best places to find walleye have been around Chaumont, Black River bay and the Henderson Harbor area.

Lake trout fishing has started to improve with some nice catches being reported.  Spin & Glo's and peanuts in green-glo, blue, chartreuse-fire dot and white-red dot have worked behind silver-chartreuse, chartreuse-red, silver-green laser and glo-cracked ice have all produced at slow speeds off Stony Point light, shipping lanes and south of Galloo Island close to bottom. 

Last but not at all least, perch fishing this year has been nothing short of phenomenal. Not only has there been good action, but the average size appears to be steadily increasing over each of the past three years.  Best places to catch perch are just off Henchen Marina, in sailboat moorings, in White's Bay and off Association Island, using minnows or worms.
