Kings in the TrenchAfter some up and down days, fishing for king salmon definitely picked up again this past weekend in the trench.
Anglers brough in some beauties ranging from 25-31 pounds (that 31-pounder was a male, too--not a female full of eggs!).
A-Tom-Mik flies in Glow Hammer, Green Hammer Glow, Hypnotist, Twister and any of the crinkle/green combos have worked
best behind E-chip flashers in 105-130 feet of water. We are also continuing to see some excellent lakers brought
in from south of Galloo Island, off the finger and in front of Sandy Pond. Best bells have been monkey puke, silver-green
lazer or chartreuses-silver in combinations of green, black or white glo colors using spin and glo's or peanuts in 100-1150
feet of water. Bass fishing has been good lately near the high rocks, pillboxes, Stony Island, Calf spit, Galloo
Island, gas buoy, Chaumont Bay, Black River and Gull Island. Use soft shell crabs or minnows for bait. Perch
fishing continues to be excellent in Henderson Harbor, using worms and/or minnows. This

"It's Salmon Season!" Yep, we're seeing king salmon in many Henderson Harbor area spots now. Kings have been taken on all
sides of the finger, south of Galloo Island, in the shipping lane, the lakeside of the trench, in front of Stony and Sandy
Creeks, Sandy Pond and in the Salmon River. Best baits have been Pro troll E-chips in chartreuse, white or chrome following
flies in Pro-Am, crazy bitch, white and hammer. NK or Stinger spoons in black-silver, glo-green silver, silver orange
and black0purple0white have allworked in 110-160 feet of water. Lake trout fishing was good again this past week in
Eastern Lake Ontario. Fireplugs, peanuts, spin & glo's, Flat Fish and Kwikfish in greens, blues and silver reds behind
chartreuse-silver, chartreuse-red, silver laser green, monkey puke, Fire Tiger and watermelon bells have
worked in110-160 feet of water north and south of the finger. A few walleye were caught around big Big and Little Galloo
and Calf Islands in recent days. This should pick up soon in the Henderson Harbor area. Stock up on Reef Runners in
black-silver, blue-silver and Fire Tiger. Bass fishing has had its ups and downs. Some places for smallie action
have been Gull, Bass, Stony and Galloo Islands, along with Sawyers and Rays Bay, using live bait. Some nice browns were
caught in 70-90 feet between north and south Sandy Creeks and Sandy Pond, using Michigan Stingers in chartreuse-silver, blue-silver,
black-silver and orange-silver. Perch fishing was also off and on, with best spots being Gull Island, Bass Island, Paradise
Park and shoals in Chaumont Bay. This report is in conjunction with information supplied

When the Weather Cooperates... ...the Henderson Harbor area fishing has been good, as long as you can get to the spots where you want to fish.
Salmon fishing continues to pick up. Hot spots have been the finger, Stony Point wall, the shipping lanes and
in front of the north dunes. E-chip flashers in chartreuse, green, blue or chrome have been good with A-Tom-Mik flies
in Pro-Am, Sweet Pea or Hammer. Spoons also worked well in silver-chartreuse and black-silver. Kings up to 34
pounds have been caught, which means we might be seeing some huge ones in over the next several weeks.
Lake trout
fishing has remained strong. For many anglers these are the biggest lakers they have ever caught. As reported
last week, fireplugs, peanuts, spin & glo's, Flat Fish and Kwikfish in greens, blues and silver reds behind chartreuse-silver,
chartreuse-red, silver laser green, monkey puke and watermelon bells have worked best. They are now mostly in 110-145 feet
of water off the finger.
Bass fishing has been good on some days, bad on others. It depends on whether you
hit the right spots. Best bets are in 20-40 feet of water off Stony, Calf and Galloo Isalnds. Rapalas have been hot
in chartreuse-white, black-silver, Fire Tiger and orange-white.
Some exceptionally large perch have been
caught off Bass and Gull Islands, Black River Bay, Cherry Island and Sherwin Bay. Still catching them in Henderson Bay,
too, in front of Henchen Marina and the Gill House. Worms and minnows make the best baits.
