King Salmon & Lake Trout: ExcellentThere have been quite a few salmon caught this past week. Most are running on the smaller side but quite a few nice adults
have been taken. Best places have been south of Galloo Island, west of the “finger”, Stony Pt. Wall, in front
of lakeview and Sandy Pond. Best depths are 100-160 feet of water fishing 45-110 feet down using dowriggers, copper and dipseys.
Running same spoons as brown trout produced and also Pro-Troll E-chip flasher in chartreuse or white followed by green hammer,
white and Pro-Am flies worked. Lake trout fishing has been excellent this past week. Many nice catches have been
made with great action. Best places have been off the Stony Pt. Finger, Calf spit and off Stony Creek in 95-145 feet of water
fishing tight to bottom. Many boats are using different baits that are completely different than other boats and all catching
fish. Some of the favorites have been Fireplugs, peanuts, spin & glo’s, Flat Fish and Kwikfish in your normal greens,
blues, silver-red and any glo’s. Best attractors have been chartreuse-silver, chartreuse-red, silver, green laser, monkey
puke and watermelon.
Brown trout fishing is about the same as last week being very productive. Many
are caught while targeting salmon while others target just browns. Northern Kings and Michigan Stingers have been best baits.
Many colors have worked, as it’s been a mixture depending on the fisherman. Combinations in black, purple, green, chartreuse
and orange with silver backs all have worked.
Best places have been Stony Pt. Wall, the “finger”,
between the “slab”-Salmon River and in front of Sandy Pond. Best depths have been 90-140 feet down in 100-150
feet of water.
Bass fishing has been up and down this past week. Some of the better places to fish have
been Stony Creek area, around Galloo Island, around Stony Island, gas buoy, Calf Island spit, Johnson Shoal, Horse Island,
high rocks and Clark’s Point. Crabs, minnows and worms have worked well but Mister Twisters, tube jigs and similar baits
have produced close to shore in chartreuse, white and green. Most are traveling from spot to spot until they locate active
fish.
Many nice lake white fish are being caught. These make for extra action and are great eating.
Most of these are caught doing the same as browns.
Walleye continue to be in transition and hard to
find. That fishery should start anytime. Try around Calf Island spit, little Galloo and gas buoy. Perch fishing
has been just plain good this whole season. Not only consistent numbers of fish but also the size has been improving each
year. Association Island, Campbell’s Shoal, Lime Barrel Shoal and high rocks on the lake side are some of the hot spots
to try your luck. Perch minnows and worms are best baits. This report is courtesy of

Want to see pictures of some recent catches? Check out (and "like") our Facebook page! King salmon fishing really picked up this week with many nice catches. There were quite a few places they were
caught including: the “trench”, Stony Point wall, the “finger”, west of the “finger”,
south of Galloo Island, in front of Lakeview and Sandy Pond. Best depths were 100-160 feet of water with downriggers down
70-140 feet. Best baits were spoons in chartreuse-red, silver-black, nuclear green, blue-silver and orange-silver. Flasher
fly combinations were excellent baits; also using pro-troll E-chip flashers in chartreuse, white, green and chrome with following
flies in green hammer, pro-am and white. Bass fishing has really slowed down this past week. Most did a lot
of searching picking a few up here and there. Talking to some of the guides there really wasn’t any hot spots or certain
baits that worked better than something else. There were eggs still inside some female bass.
Brown trout
fishing has stayed consistently good to great. Best places have been: the pillboxes, off gravely bay, Stony Point wall, deeper
belly of the “trench” and west of Salmon River. Fish are hanging around in the 60 foot to close to bottom in 140
feet, Michigan Stingers and NK’s in same colors as salmon.
Lake trout fishing was excellent this
past week as many nice catches were made. Best depths were 100-145 fee of water using cowbells in Fire Tiger, watermelon,
silver-chartreuse and silver-green with following spin & glo’s, peanuts and fireplugs in glo-green, glo-white and
glo-blue. Fishing close to bottom produced best results. Best places were the “finger” and south of Calf Island.
Many boats are averaging 2-9 whitefish per trip this week. Fishermen using spoons that are fishing trout
and salmon are catching these as a bonus fish. As we mentioned previously, they are a great eating fish. There is no size
limit but the limit is 5 per person.
Perch fishing has been productive in man areas – Chaumont
Bay, Cherry Island, Black River Bay, Campbell’s Shoal, six town point, White’s Bay, Paradise Park, in front of
Gill House, Association Island and sailboat moorings in Henderson Harbor. Small worm tipped jigs were best in 20-40 feet of
water but straight worms and perch minnows also produced.
Walleye are in transition and hard to find
right now with not many areas producing consistently. Best places to try are Calf, Stony, little Galloo Islands or the gas
buoy off Galloo Island.

Mixed BagBrown trout fishing remains strong in the Henderson Harbor fishing area, especially around Gravely Bay and Sawyers Bay.
You'll find them in 12-15' using Michigan stinger spoons in a variety of colors. Pike and walleye fishing slowed down
some this past week. Your best best is off Horse Island with silver/black and silver/blue stickbaits. On the other
hand, perch fishing has picked up in the bay as well as still off the High Rocks. Live bait and gold hooks do the trick.
No laker or salmon action around here...yet. Report courtedy of Captain Dave ""Quatro"
